Albania also has a rich culture and history. The country and its inhabitants trace their origins back to ancient Illyria.

It was then occupied for centuries by other peoples, most notably the Turks, until it finally gained its independence in the early 20th century. There are a lot of historically impressive cities with many remnants of that pluralistic history.
